ABSTRACT

Frustration can also be caused when too much time is taken over decisions, as other people are very often affected by decision-making and need to know the outcome so that they can put it into practice. Managers should take care that they are not just focusing on the day-to-day practice decisions, because it is too easy to get caught up in the daily routine and not actually manage and develop the service. In the case of day-to-day practice decisions we go through a simple process, sometimes without even realising it, which is: Effective managers try to delegate as many of these day-to-day practice decisions to other members of the team. The more we practice planned and organised decision-making, the easier it becomes. One of the best ways to weigh up the options is to set each one against the organisational aim and objectives of the setting.
