ABSTRACT

The activities are experiential in nature and empower students to read and respond proactively to their bodies' cues. The word "practice" is often used when framing the activities. The intention behind the design of the scripted activities is to give the educator a vehicle in which to learn the delivery, pacing, and classroom management style that best complements the content. Typically, the energizing activities include more movement and team-building, while the focusing activities include more mindfulness and breath work. Movement can help one find focused energy through a team-building activity. Ultimately, the goal is to utilize a mix of Mindful Practices to build Self-Awareness, Self-Regulation, and Social Awareness so that one can find the balance between Self-Efficacy and Social Harmony: the ability to maintain the needs of the self while in a social situation or, conversely, to balance the needs of the group with the needs of the self.
