Thofe who refide under a certi6cate tllerefore cannot acquire fettkments, except by the methods prefcribed in the 9 & 10 W. 3. ·c. I I (3)' But if -unprot~1ed by it they may do fo in the fame manner as any other penon. For wherever a tertificate is not conclufive upon the parifh tranting it to receive the· party baclr. again, it does not prevent him from acquiring a fettlement.there (4).
