ABSTRACT
This chapter is given over to a discussion of the European politics and interests of Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales (hereafter referred to collectively as the devolved nations). They represent three of the four territorial components that make up the multinational state of the United Kingdom, described in some quarters as ‘a centralized and pluri-national state’ and ‘a state of unions’.
