The present chapter challenges Olib's, Bickford's, and Postal's claims. Based on a comprehensive study of French monoclausal ICs which incorporates certain types not studied previously, I argue for the following condition on French ICs:

(3) Condition on Dummy Entrance in French ICs If a clause b contains dummy il and b is initially unergative, then the dummy enters as a 2. In all other clauses, the dummy enters as a 1.
