ABSTRACT

Human economies depend on the extraction of natural and environmental resources: soil, water, pasture, forests, wildlife, and minerals. The well-being of a given society depends on the quality and quantity of its natural and environmental resources and how it manages them in the pursuit of achieving sustained economic development and improvements in human welfare. Unsustainable or improper human activities reduce both the quality and quantity of available natural and environmental resources, such as soil, water, forest, pasture, and biodiversity. There is much to worry about Ethiopia’s environment and resource base.
