ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces the reader to the challenges of implementing business analytics with a practitioner’s view of a real-life business situation. The on-thefl oor challenges are many but not insurmountable and can be handled with better planning. This chapter is intended to explain to business managers the challenges involved in implementing business analytics solutions and methods of overcoming issues preventing successful implementation. Businesses are challenged by the commotion and confusion that analytics can create when initiated in an unorganized fashion. Teams can reach deadlocks that lead to nowhere when they attempt directionless approaches, instead of having a clear focus to discover real business opportunities or to explore important outcomes for their customers, stakeholders, and employees. This chapter shows the fl ow for organizing an implementation and discusses sector-specifi c aspects of analytics projects implementation.
