ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on corporate environmental practices. Since social concern for environmental problems has elevated, voices calling for businesses to have environmental policies have grown louder. Namely, there is a greater demand for “environmental practices,” or business practices which give due consideration to environmental issues. Especially in recent years, emphasis has been placed on expanding business considerations beyond the traditional economic and legal responsibilities that businesses have been obliged to abide by to stakeholder considerations. For, it is the stakeholders who have vested interests in the wellbeing of businesses. Finally, the importance of corporate social responsibility (CSR) has come into the limelight. This chapter introduces the nature of various environmental risks that businesses must address. Furthermore, it explains various methods for businesses to accomplish this.
