Tumultuousmeetingswereheldinthemanufacturing districts,andatManchesteralargeassemblagehad beendispersedbythemilitary.Conspiraciesweresaid tobesecretlyconcocted,andageneralfeelingofapprehensionprevailed,withoutanyverydefinitecause, exceptingthatthereweregreatcomplaintsofdistress inallpartsofthecountry.Itisnotnecessary,however,togiveadetailofthesecircumstances,astheyare sufficientlyrecentforremembrance.Indeeditmust havebeennoticedthatasweapproachedmoderntimes,
