ABSTRACT

Workplace bullying was previously referred to as workplace harassment in Queensland. In 2014, Queensland adopted national guidance, definitions, and terminology for workplace bullying. In April 2014, Queensland adopted two guides developed by Safe Work Australia relating to workplace bullying. The guides, one for employers and the other for workers, set the minimum standards for managing the risk of workplace bullying and provide guidance as to identifying when bullying is occurring. The main object of the Workplace Health and Safety Act 2011, as amended by all amendments that commenced on or before October 22, 2015, is to provide for a balanced and nationally consistent framework to secure the health and safety of workers and workplaces by means which include protecting workers and other persons against harm to their health, safety, and welfare through the elimination or minimization of risks arising from work or from particular types of substances or plant.
