ABSTRACT

I was very sorry only to get that glimpse of you. Quite the happiest days of all my life were passed in my very early childhood, paddling and floating about in un-upsettable boats at the shingly edge of Coniston Waterland; and Derwent Water was always to me a piece of the other world—the passionate elevation of the pleasure being as far beyond anything now possible to me as I suppose mine was above the beasts—I am going abroad to take two children, who have never been, and who will both be very happy.
