ABSTRACT

It is the loveliest of days, everything is in full force and go, and it seems curious to think how soon a sudden pause and hush will come over the world here, the shops and exhibitions emptied, the great houses shut up, and only the monotonous life of the poor goes on unbroken. One goes on with everything as if it were to last for ever, and then one does best, but I think these pauses and breaks are so helpful, if they come as a sudden respite from work, but are harmful if one keeps thinking that it is not worth while to begin this or that because of them.
