ABSTRACT
My goal was to get to the root of clinical expertise by interviewing master psychotherapists about their training methods. I approached three of the master therapists I had previously seen in videos: Allan Abbass, Patricia Coughlin, and Jon Frederickson. Fortunately, they were all very open to talking about their paths to clinical mastery. From our discussions, four common themes emerged.
