ABSTRACT
The previous chapter discussed the typical patterning features of intensifi ers in the CL corpora with reference to the NS corpora. In this section, Chinese learners’ use of intensifi ers will be studied in depth. Within the framework of Sinclair’s EUM model, intensifi ers will be analyzed in terms of the semantic preference and semantic prosody.
