ABSTRACT
The deaf community has a vibrant history. It is rich and diverse, with Deaf people having various backgrounds and experiences. The deaf community is a fluid, evolving community that provides many deaf people with a place they can call “home.” We view the deaf community and Deaf culture as valuable resources for professionals in the fields of medicine, hearing health, psychology, the social sciences, and education, as well as for deaf, hard-of-hearing, and hearing parents and their deaf and hard-of-hearing children.
