ABSTRACT

Company boards serve numerous roles, some of which include providing continuity for the organization and selecting and appointing a CEO who is charged with the administration of the organization. The correlation between gender diversity on boards and corporate performance can also be found in most industries, from consumer discretionary to information technology. In all, based on results from companies with strong female leadership presence, the increase of female leaders in the workplace over the next decade will likely be a great asset to companies that embrace women's leadership and contributions to the organization. As business leaders seek to achieve higher levels of financial performance by attracting, developing, promoting, and retaining talent, they need to realize that women, 50" of the talent pool, have exceptional leadership skills. Evidence throughout this chapter shows that these leadership skills are strongly correlated with key success indicators such as retaining talent, organizational commitment, employee engagement, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
