ABSTRACT
On October 27, 1915, the Antarctic Explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton gathered his men. They were on an ice floe, adrift on the Weddell Sea. Their ship Endurance had just been crushed; they had three lifeboats and some dogs. Shackleton’s words were simple and direct: “Ship and stores are lost; so now we’ll go home.” 1
