ABSTRACT
The Chapters in This Volume Have Outlined a Series of Activist policies that adapt the liberal tradition of concern for working Americans to the problems of today’s economy. The overriding purpose of these policies is to reverse the ongoing erosion in American living standards and restore the economic base for middle-class prosperity. As such, these policies would be of considerable help to the overwhelming majority of Americans—help that is surely needed.
