ABSTRACT

For nearly a year we had looked forward to, and saved for, a trip to China under the auspices of the National Committee on United States-China Relations, of which I had been a member for some ten years. The committee was deeply involved in intercultural exchanges and so had a fine reputation in China and provided excellent auspices. We left New York on October 5 and returned on November 1, 1980, visiting Kay’s sister, Miggs, in Albuquerque, and having three days in Berkeley with Jack and Cary Service. After the China tour of sixteen days, we rested up in Hong Kong at the home of David and Natasha Wilson and had a nostalgic three days in Tokyo.
