ABSTRACT

For several years, Toronto has been the chief destination of Hong Kong immigrants, usually accounting for about one-half of all immigrants. 1 In 1988, 50.5 percent of all those who landed in Canada from Hong Kong gave Toronto as their destination, in 1989, 50.6 percent; and in 1990, 46 percent. 2 This heavy concentration means that the story of Hong Kong immigration to Toronto is the story of the experience of by far the largest single group of Hong Kong people in Canada.
