Religion and Politics in the Caucasus

With the collapse of the Soviet Union, the relationship between religion and politics in the Caucasus, and their combined effect on civil strife, assumed greater significance. Governments, political parties, and movements of the Caucasus, as well as neighboring countries, have begun to take elements of religion into consideration in their search for internal and external support.
