The Formation of Working-Class Consiousness Under Conditions of Social Crisis and the Developing Market Economy in Russia

The beginning of perestroika in the USSR, glasnost', the criticism of ideological dogmas and the reassessment of the historical past, the economic and social crises, ethnic and national conflicts, and the disintegration of the USSR have entirely destroyed the old political and ideological mentality among all social strata. This is also seen in people's loss of their previous social identity. They no longer know which social groups and communities they belong to and which of them protects their interests.
