ABSTRACT
Power does not dutifully confine itself to the "economic" realm, narrowly construed. It does not passively submit to "the market." It does not submissively play according to an unalterable set of rules for survival and success. Instead, it reaches out to change the rules of the competitive game—or to dispense with them altogether—by capturing the state and perverting it to private (often antisocial) ends.
