ABSTRACT

This chapter summarizes how women's and men's status differs in decision-making posts in state agencies. The differences are described in terms of opportunity, power, and numbers. The author suggests levers that can be pulled to lower the barriers that prevent women from having an equal footing with men in terms of their ability to secure leadership positions.
