ABSTRACT

In 1991 Middlesex Community College, located in suburban Boston, conducted two three-week training programs for presidents and vice-presidents of banks in the Russian republic. The programs were tailored to the banking industry, with the goal of providing Russian banking executives with knowledge of western banking and financial practices to enable them to begin transforming their banks into full-service market-oriented organizations. The programs were also in line with Middlesex Community College's goal of developing an international perspective by providing opportunities for faculty, students, and staff to learn about events around the world and to study and teach abroad. This chapter describes the origin of the program, its structure and content, the participants, evaluation of the results, and prospects for the future.
