ABSTRACT

Anthropology is an important discipline. It is a discipline that belongs to the natural sciences and also to the social sciences. In foreign countries there has been an increasingly intimate link between the science of anthropology and the social life of the people. The scope of the study of anthropology has been continuously expanded and a number of derivative branch sciences have been developed. For the last thirty years, anthropology in China has been treated in the same vein as sociology, ethnology, legal studies, and religious studies, as a bourgeois science, and as such has not been promoted publicly and its development adversely affected. In other countries anthropology has been developing with a great flourish in recent years. Even prior to Liberation, anthropology as a field of study included both physical and cultural anthropology. Developing the study of anthropology will also allow us to develop greater international cultural exchange with other countries.
