ABSTRACT

Paleoanthropology is also known as human paleontology. It is the science that studies the origins and development of the human race. During the long process of human development, stone implements were the primary type of tool used by human beings. Therefore the study of paleoanthropology is also inevitably the study of stone tools, particularly tools of the Paleolithic age. The primary data for the study of the evolution of the human race are human and ape fossils, all of which are excavated from geological strata. Since fossils are the foundation on which we can study the processes of human evolution, we must, as we approach the study of the formation of human fossils, have a rich knowledge of morphology and human anatomy. The object of neoanthropology is to describe and explain the processes of transformation and development of the physical attributes of modern human groups and the laws that govern these transformations.
