ABSTRACT

At the beginning of the last decade of the twentieth century, the forward momentum of postcapitalist societies has been blocked, and the concepts of socialism, based in Marxist theory, have consequently been called into question. The resulting ferment creates both the opportunity and the need for reexamination of the theory of the socialist economy. In this chapter, I will explore some ingredients for a newly invigorated theoretical socialism, with the clear intention of helping to put socialism back on the offensive, in both theory and practice.
