ABSTRACT
On December 5, 1986, on the initiative of the journal Voprosy istorii and the Academic Council of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR on the research problem "The History of the Great October Socialist Revolution," a meeting of a group of historians was held at the editorial office. V. G. Trukhanovskii, editor-in-chief of the journal and corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences, chaired the meeting. The introductory remarks were made by the chairman of the Academic Council, Academician I. I. Mints.* The editorial board and the Academic Council considered the meeting part of the preparations for the seventieth anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution.
