The Reform of a Nominal Cooperative—My Tho, 1974–1975

The situation in My Tho before the 1974 reform was the most extreme of all the communes covered by the available case studies. ¹ Yet as a nominal cooperative it operated in ways closest to those of the great majority. ² Its experiences during reform therefore provide an extremely valuable example of the conflicts accompanying the transition from nominal to active status.
