ABSTRACT

The introduction to this volume sketched the evolution of the radical-globalist and radical-statist literatures whose applicability to East Asia has been examined in the preceding chapters. This chapter summarizes the results of this evaluation and their implications for further research. First it asks what the authors concluded about globalist and statist processes in East Asia, noting both divergences and commonalities between their papers. Then, building on the area of agreement, it highlights some globalist and statist processes that the East Asian cases help elaborate, particularly processes identified by the radical literature from which the discussion began.
