ABSTRACT

Citizens and state, cooperative, and other social organizations may acquire property for ownership or operative management only on grounds provided for in law or contract. A socialist organization may acquire property on the basis of decisions of superior organs, through contracts of supply or work contract. A mistake by the party which acquires the property or by the party on whose account the unjust acquisition of the property occurred also causes unjust acquisition or retention of property. Sometimes a person acquires or retains a property which may reap a profit. In this case, it is necessary to return not only the property but also the profits which the person gained or should have gained from this property from the moment that he knew or should have known of the unjust acquisition of the property. A special chapter in the Civil Code is devoted to obligations resulting from the unjust acquisition and retention of property.
