ABSTRACT

The tasks and functions of the family are ultimately determined by the production relations of a given society. At the same time, law and morality exert a significant influence on the family. The nature of the relations that are formed in the family determine more than the proper upbringing of children. The family in large measure determines the character of each of its members, the social and labor activism of its members, and thereby influences the successes and achievements of all society. Relations in the Soviet family are determined by feelings of love, friendship, and mutual aid. The exceptionally great importance of the family to our society requires that it be strengthened in every way. Soviet family law proceeds from special, inherent tasks and principles that are in large measure distinct from other branches of law. Norms governing the period of limitations are applied in family law in accordance with rules established by civil legislaion, unless otherwise provided by law.
