ABSTRACT

The capitalistic industrial and commercial enterprises all have come under joint state-private management, and small retailers also have been basically cooperativized. This is a radical change. Along with this, commercial work also needs change in order to fit this new condition. The cadres in commercial work often get scolded. This shows that there are many shortcomings and mistakes in commercial work, and it shows that the relation of commercial work with the people’s livelihood is immediate. The broad masses of people are concerned with their own lives. The first seven so-called things to do after the door is opened are: firewood, rice, oil, salt, sauce, vinegar, and tea. They are all related to commercial work. The comrades of the commercial departments should be ideologically prepared for continued shortages of commodities during the period of the Second and Third Five-Year Plans.
