ABSTRACT

The Comparative and Regional Studies (CRS) program concentration in Russia and Central Eurasia includes a study of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and the Soviet Union from 1917 to 1991. It covers the realignment of political forces from 1992 to the present, including the Commonwealth of Independent States and the individual countries that emerged in the area, including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia. The CRS concentration in this region also includes a study of the strong presence of the Soviet Union in Eastern Europe from the end of World War II to 1989.
