ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the previous chapters of this book. The book shows the ways in which different political regimes have used the Argentine education system as a tool to strengthen their positions and to further their national projects. It discusses the education system of a country tells us a good deal about the nature of the country's political regime and its goals; and, indeed, one of the main features of the Peronist education system was its drive toward uniformity in thought and national consciousness, a uniformity which, naturally, reduced considerably the possibility of opposition. The uniform culture envisioned by the regime had to adhere to the principles of the national doctrine meaning the Peronist doctrine. The Peronist doctrine, which became the national doctrine and was intended to bond the Argentines together, displaced even the Catholic doctrine from the schools.
