ABSTRACT

As the First Cavalry Division and the Twenty-fourth Division swept northward, they quickly captured Pyongyang. General MacArthur dropped the Eleventh Airborne combat team north of Pyongyang in an attempt to cut off retreating communists and, particularly, to cut off two trains, which our intelligence people had reported were carrying American prisoners north to the Yalu River. This effort was only partially successful. One train got away. As we would later leam, General Dean was on this train.
