ABSTRACT
This differing structure in hardwoods may sometimes affect how the timber will wear, and coarser more visible structures will be more differentiated in this respect. There will also be uneven wear between the annual rings as the softer material associated with spring growth wears first, leaving the harder, more closely aligned, summer growth rings.
