ABSTRACT

This chapter presents four domains of classroom teacher. These domains are: instruction skills, assessment skills, learning environment skills and professionalism. The first domain of performance encompasses both organizing for instruction and delivery of instruction. The major responsibilities include planning and implementing a variety of activities consistent with instructional objectives, selecting instructional methods compatible with student abilities and learning styles. Assessment skills domain includes the responsibilities for conducting evaluation and providing feedback to students that encourages student progress and measures student achievement. The learning environment skills domain includes the teacher's responsibilities for planning and demonstrating effective routines and procedures that create an organized and positive learning environment. The final domain defines the responsibilities for demonstrating a commitment to professional ethics and growth and for complying with district policies and procedures. The teacher demonstrates ethical and professional behavior.
