ABSTRACT

At first glance discussing the anti-Nazi resistance in a chapter devoted to the period after the Nazis had been defeated may seem out of place. But there is a good reason for doing this. The opponents of the Third Reich were not successful in overthrowing the regime, but their failed efforts became a significant part of the politics of memory in the later East and West Germanys.
