ABSTRACT
The ICCPR and ICESCR are among the two most important international covenants, or treaties, defining human rights. These covenants are reviewed later as well as three other covenants (in historical order). In addition to defining human rights, covenants often establish organs for their implementation, as well as specifying conditions for ratification and becoming international law.
