ABSTRACT
The stories in this section span a period from the 1940s to the late 1970s. They deal with the lives of African Americans before and during the Civil Rights Movement, and with the work of women’s liberationists and gay and lesbian activists. The final selection tells the story of a young man’s life in the American Indian Movement.
