ABSTRACT

In tergus is the reading preferred by Mynors, Williams, Hardie, Goold, Rivero et al. among the more recent editors and by e.g. Hirtzel, Janell, Ladewig–Schaper–Deuticke among the older. Tergum is found in Geymonat, Perret, Paratore and Conte following e.g. Page, Goelzer, Fairclough, Sabbadini, Sabbadini–Castiglioni. The editors, then, are fairly evenly divided between tergus and tergum and so are the manuscripts.
