ABSTRACT
Thyrsis' third quatrain (41–4), has in some readings been taken as corroborating the idea that Micon (29–30) is Corydon's alter ego. But it remains to be seen whether Thyrsis acts the part of Galatea in his answer to Corydon's quatrain. Again the interchange between the two singers should be seen as a whole:
