ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a comprehensive picture of the relationship between the body, mind and brain, how they interact and affect each other. Since mapping the internal viscera is biased to the right hemisphere, the right brain forms an ensemble with the body, while the left hemisphere can stand apart from it. Topics explored include somatic regulation, emotions stuck in the heart, chest, gut and muscles, psychosomatic disorders, pain, touch, and ways of working with the body in therapy. The brain initiates, the body influences – although not always. The mind can lead directly to the body, and the body can lead to more of the mind.
