ABSTRACT

Sometimes one of the two potential lovers has a wrong belief about the other. Somehow they get the wrong idea and assume the other is unavailable. In While You Were Sleeping, a kind of misunderstanding works when Sandra Bullock's Lucy, a toll booth ticket seller in the New York City subway, has had a secret crush on a passenger she's never met who buys a ticket from her every day, the handsome Peter Gallagher. When he falls on the tracks, she rushes in and saves his life, though he is injured and goes into a coma. Lucy goes with him to the hospital and the nurses overhear her murmur that she's going to marry him someday. When his family arrives at the hospital, the nurses kindly tell them that Lucy is his fiancée. This false assumption about her betrothal becomes an obstacle when she finds herself falling for Peter's brother, Bill Pullman.
