ABSTRACT

Your field of vision is a bit more than 180° in the horizontal plane. This width of field allows detection of an object coming from the side provided it is not much behind a line level with the two corneas. To determine your own field of vision wiggle your fingers in about this position while looking straight ahead. This width of field is correct for moving objects, but peripheral vision is not nearly as good with stationary objects. For example, if you stop wiggling your fingers at the point where they are just visible they will probably seem to vanish.
