ABSTRACT

Until very recently, effective governance of the global system was a prerogative of a select group of world powers. Through centuries, with the exception of irregular short periods of revolutions and seditions, Russia had been among them. At the beginning of the new millennium, the country is trying to find a new modus vivendi in the changed geopolitical environment of a globalized world, in which Moscow’s global economic power rests almost exclusively on its natural resources endowment.
