ABSTRACT

The legal and policy oriented career trajectories are engrained in nearly every sector. In-house lawyers can be found in large corporations, no matter what product or service the company sells. The complexity of the legal system at the local, national, and international levels leaves much to be interpreted-by policy analysts and legal practitioners. Even in jurisdictions where contracts matter much less than relationships, there are career opportunities for people who understand the existing written and unwritten laws and who influence the making of future laws. But how does sustainable development translate into actual legal prose? How do lawmakers and policy officials use, in their everyday professional work, the concepts of a flourishing society, a healthy environment, and a vibrant economy that safeguards future generations?
