ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we’ll explore how students can enhance their informational writing by using images and figures to aid the reader’s comprehension and further illustrate important concepts. First, we’ll consider what this form of multimedia use entails and then examine how it can benefit informational writing. After that, we’ll check out a description of a lesson I did with a fifth-grade class on this writing strategy, finally concluding by considering some key recommendations to keep in mind when helping your students incorporate images and figures in their informational works.
